ARCADIA – Blissed Gems

A show designed to put some joy in your heart

I was sitting with Raz (now DJ Raz) over a beer at Christmas when he said to me he is getting back into DJ’ing. Suddenly it dawned on me that life had become so dull, doing the same old job, being a slave to Amazon. It was time to do something completely different.

So Planet of Sound was born. What is it? I don’t quite know yet, but I envision a bunch of people sharing music, ideas and fun, and we will put it on our website and broadcast it. We want to put together shows that are different from what you hear on mainstream radio, we will promote new bands and put on club nights. We have all the latest kit to come and DJ at your party, wedding, or special event. It’s to put the fun back in our lives and to put a smile on other people’s faces.

A little bit about myself. Born in Walthamstow, London, it was vibrant multi-cultural area, so we grew up listening to ska & jazz funk. The 80’s was a great era for music, often frowned upon, but it was probably the last decade where each music scene had its own dress and culture. Everything now just seems to be homegenised into one look nowdays.

Used to go over Walthamstow dogs, down White Hart Lane (I could see the floodlights from my bedroom window). As a kid we would play football from dawn till dusk, days spent at Larkshall Lido and learning very little at McEntee School, but just enough to be smart enough to get by. Getting older, we would walk the streets with our ghetto blaster listening to pirate radio jazz funk stations. Short and baby-faced, it was always hard to get served in pubs when most kids from our school would have no problem, but I guess that may pay dividends now.

I left school with hardly any qualifications, but I found out I could sell stuff and I’ve been selling stuff ever since. Now I need to convince you to support us and help this venture work. The fact that you have stopped by here to read this is a start. I would love to hear from you if you would like to put together your own show – we can help do this, or if you have any other ideas of what you would like to us to do.
