Sound on Film

Music that tells a story

Alex is incredibly passionate about music and has been since first picking up a guitar aged seven. Since then he has continued to explore all areas of music, learning seven instruments and playing regularly in several bands including ‘Paper Castles’ and ‘The Watsons’. At the age of sixteen, Alex started a mobile DJ business and has played many events including weddings, parties and club nights. In addition to his DJ work and bands, Alex writes and produces his own original music under the alias ‘Rogue State’. His compositions span the various sub-genres within electronic music, however he listens to all musical genres from dubstep to disco and everything else in between.

“Having studied at The Academy of Contemporary Music for the past two years, I have been lucky enough to meet some incredibly talented musicians: George Clinton (Parliament), Newton Faulkner, Chad Jackson (former DMC world champion) and Gary Stringer (Reef) – to name a few.

I also had the incredible fortune to attend high profile sessions at Metropolis Studios on a regular basis. One of the stand-out moments at Metropolis, and possibly the most amazing sonic experience of my life so far, happened during a session with John Davis (mastering engineer for Led Zeppelin, Gorillaz, U2). It was when I first heard a song mastered specifically for 5.1 surround sound. The track was ‘Rocket Man’ and hearing it played through the PMC speakers in Studio A sent shivers down my spine.”
